JAMMU, Jan 29: To turn the attention of the State and Central governments as well as the rights bodies towards their plight the PM package employees under the aegis of Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) today took out a scooter rally from Muthi to Human Rights Commission Office.
The rally was in continuation to the previous agitational promgrammes held at Lal Chowk, Srinagar and Jammu, a spokesman of the YAIKS told reporters at the sidelines of rally.
The employees submitted a memorandum to Commissioner Human Rights highlighting their sufferings and plight and sought its intervention.
The spokesman said PM package has been totally an eye wash for the displaced Pandit youth as out of 6000 jobs announced by then PM Dr Manmohan Singh in 2008 May only some hundred posts were filled up over the years.
He said a resolution was also passed during the rally in which it was stated that the PM’s employment package has proved to be a mere eye wash as it betrayed the entire KP community.
The rallyists also demanded that till the comprehensive rehabilitation of the entire community the PM package employees be treated a t par with other migrant employees as they lack the basic facilities in Valley. They said due to the biased approach of successive governments in the State the PM package has turned to be a complete failure as Government failed to fulfill its commitments.
The spokesman said under the package Government had claimed to rehabilitate a total number of 65,000 migrant families in Valley, but the evil designs of political parties have been exposed as they showed no inclination in implementation of the package and under one pretext or the other tried to sabotage it to suit their own interests.
He said the employees posted in Valley are unable to keep their families with them due to lack of accommodation and other facilities. The old age parents of these employees are also worried as they have no one to care at their home.
He said that Government should consider the employees demand and absorb them in Central government departments or treat them at par with other migrant employees in case the Government is not in a position to relive these employees form their present hardships.
The displaced youth have made an appeal to people as well as main stream political leaders, social activists etc to come to their rescue and support their struggle for a genuine cause as the displaced Pandits who have been hounded out from their homes and hearts san justice even after 27 years of their exile.
The others who attended the rally including Arti Koul, Bindu Koul, Romica, Sunil Koul, Vimal Ji, Princy Dhar, Rakesh Fotedar, Sweety, Preeti Koul, Rohit Bhat, Ajay Bhat, Vimal Raina and Sarita Ji.
