JAMMU, Jan 31: J&K BJP president Sat Sharma said that contribution of the Sikh community for the society and the nation has truly been recognized by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who has taken lot of steps for the community.
While listening to the issues represented by a deputation predominantly of the Sikh community at the party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, Sat Sharma said that PM Narendra Modi, has done a lot for Sikhs and Sikhism.
“PM opened Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, established Shree Guru Nanak ji Chair at a British University, declared Sultanpur Lodhi as heritage city, and honoured Chhote Sahibzadas, the sons of Guru Gobind Singh through his decision to declare December 26 every year as Veer Baal Diwas. It was due to the efforts of PM Modi that the holy Shree Guru Granth Sahib was brought to India from Afghanistan with full respect,” he said.
A group of social activists and prominent citizens, led by Kamalpreet Singh from Sainik Colony, Jammu, called on Sat Sharma, at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The deputation highlighted various issues and demands, including construction of a community hall for the senior citizens and cremation ground and hospital in Sainik Colony area. . The deputation also pressed for the redressal of the issues related to the lanes, drains and streetlights maintenance, regular drinking water supply, security issues, stray cattle in Sainik Colony etc.
Sat Sharma listened to all the issues patiently and assured that the efforts will be made to address all the issues on priority. He added that the Modi Government believes in the “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” policy and is committed to the welfare of all the communities, and regions, with special emphasis on the areas earlier neglected and the people earlier oppressed.
The deputation members included KS Manhas, Balwinder Singh Babu, Gandharv Singh, Anil Kumar Sharma, Dr Satvir Singh, Dr Vinod Singh, Ranjit Singh Jasrotia, Ajay Singh, Sher Singh, Inderjir Singh Wazir, Aya Singh, Satish Manhas, Gurdeep Singh, Kamaljit Singh (Raju), Joginder Singh, Kamaljit Singh (Dimple), Tirath Singh, Suraj Sharma, and others.
