PM says India -Germany  “made for each other”

Berlin:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India and Germany are “made for each other” and both countries are pursuing their bilateral relations in terms of global context and can hence cooperate on various issues in the worldwide canvas including on counter terrorism and climate protection.

“We are made for each other,” Modi told reporters here at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and said it is high time both countries tried to cooperate as this would also mark the coming together of “innovation” and “democratic values”.

“These two virtues are inherent in our blood (both the countries) and these can work as guarantee to overall global well being,”  Modi said.

 He said India was hopeful that it will emerge as a “dependable partner” for Germany.

He said Europe as a continent and also the world face numerous “challenges” and therefore India and Germany can cooperate to deal with these challenges.

 “We are trying to reach a global benchmark,” the Prime Minister said.

 He further said Germany’s extensive work and expertise in skill development has already set “the standards globally and this can benefit the youth of India”.

“We had wide ranging discussions today. India-Germany partnership will help our nations and also help the world. We are looking at outcome oriented momentum in India-Germany ties and also a quantum jump specially in economic ties,” he added.

 “Climate protection and living in harmony with nature is a part of India’s ethos,” he said.  (Agencies)
