PM, Union Ministers, CMs to join mega religious function on Nov 5

JAMMU, Nov 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of BJP ruled States and some senior BJP leaders will join mega function on November 5 Online from all four Dhams, 12 Jyotirlingas and 86 prominent shrines and temples established across the country by Shri Adi Shankaracharya during his travels.
Famous Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir is among the shrines where the function will be held simultaneously and lone Union Minister from Jammu and Kashmir Dr Jitendra Singh will lead the team there to perform prayers and hold other rituals like other shrines across the country.
This is for the first time that such a function is being organized in India, the officials told the Excelsior.
Main function will be held at Kedarnath Ji shrine in Uttarakhand on November 5 from 9 am onwards which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Simultaneously, the shrines which will be linked Online by holding similar religious functions include four Dhams, 12 Jyotirlingas and 86 prominent shrines and temples which were established in the country by Shri Adi Shankaracharya during his travels.
Giant screens will be placed at these venues to relay the Prime Minister’s programmes as well as similar functions at other shrines and temples for the masses, the officials said.
The Prime Minister is also expected to inaugurate some infrastructure projects during his visit to Kedarnath which include unveiling the statue of Shri Adi Shankaracharya, laying foundation stone of multiple key infrastructure projects and review and inspection of executed and ongoing works.
Modi’s visit to the Himalayan temple will mark the completion of the first phase of reconstruction works in Kedarpuri and beginning of the second phase. The programme assumes significance as the hill State is headed for assembly polls next year.
Besides Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar, other major shrines and temples which will join the mega function Online on November 5 are located at Tirupati, Gaya , Nalanda, Patna, Kurukshetra, Thrissur, Sholapur, Kanchipuram, Madurai, Thirucharpalli, Mathura, Allahabad, Haridwar and Jagannath Puri among others.
While Dr Jitendra Singh will lead the function at Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar, several other prominent Ministers in the Government of India, Chief Ministers of BJP ruled States and senior BJP leaders will also become part of the functions at shrines and temples across the country.
“The function will start at 9 am from Kedarnath temple with the Prime Minister performing rituals and simultaneously all other shrines/temples will connect Online,” the officials said, adding the function is expected to last nearly two hours.
Big screens will be installed outside all shrines/temples for the Online function.
As per the officials, this is for the first time that a religious function at such a large scale is being organized across the country.
Shankaracharya temple in Srinagar is one of the ancient temples in Jammu and Kashmir which was visited by Adi Shankaracharya. It attracts large number of tourists from across the country.
Meanwhile, all arrangements for the function have been made by the Union Territory Government in Srinagar.
While Dr Jitendra Singh will reach Srinagar on November 5, other prominent personalities who will join him in the function will be in Srinagar a day ahead of the function.
