He said a process for rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants is on and shortly it will be known. He added that the Prime Minister wants good rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants and the administration here will fulfil the task.
“As far as migrant employees are concerned, their all posts have been filled and a number of houses constructed. Next year, almost all houses for the employees will be handed over,” he added.
To a question as to when he will be back as a BJP member, Sinha said he quit the BJP membership on August 6, 2020 (the day he was appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir) and he has no such intentions so far.
“As Lieutenant Governor, my topmost priorities are to see peace, development and progress in Jammu and Kashmir. We want to make J&K terror, corruption and drugs free and inclusive of employment,” he said.
Replying to a question on his transfer, the Lieutenant Governor said whatever task has been assigned to him he is trying to fulfil it with honesty and dedication and will come up to expectations of the Prime Minister.
“As of now, I’m fully devoted here,” he added.
Replying to a question on certain politicians giving “unwarranted statements” on Kashmir, Sinha said those in politics have to take votes but their statements shouldn’t be such which affects economy and tourism.
Asserting that security forces have gained upper hand over the militants, he said top commanders of all militant outfits have been eliminated.
“They (the militants) now indulge in targeted killings to make their presence felt. However, in the times to come, we will get rid of this too,” he asserted.
In a reference towards Pakistan, Sinha said the neighbour keeps making efforts to disturb peace, mislead youth and send weapons but Army and BSF are fully alert on the borders and along with JKP are working to establish 360 degree peace.
Efforts are on to end entire ecosystem of terrorism, he added.
He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah not only keeps reviewing security situation in Jammu and Kashmir from time to time but also helped in framing clear policy, a result of which situation has changed in the Valley.
Describing Pakistan as father of terrorism, the Lieutenant Governor said the neighbour keeps making efforts to promote terrorism but its efforts have been foiled on all fronts.
Asserting that G20 meeting was a challenge, he, however, said, all delegates returned with good memories and he is confident that foreign nations will review their adverse advisories on travel and more foreign tourists will visit Jammu and Kashmir.
“There has been lot of development with better infrastructure and connectivity. Work is going on at Rs 1.5 lakh crore worth tunnels and highways. Kashmir will be connected with rail this Financial Year. Air connectivity has also improved in Jammu and Srinagar,” Sinha said.
On industrial development, he said Jammu and Kashmir has received investment proposals to the tune of Rs 75,000 crore which will generate five lakh jobs. Investments worth Rs 26,000 crore to Rs 27,000 crore is already on ground, he added.
In Government sector, the Lieutenant Governor said, 29,000 vacancies have been filled and from September drive will again be launched for recruitment with jobs being given in transparent manner to meritorious youth.
On Assembly elections, Sinha reiterated that there was no need to doubt the assurance given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament that delimitation will be followed by revision of electoral rolls and elections.
However, he said, the Election Commission of India has to take a call on the elections and whenever a decision is taken the UT administration will fulfil its responsibility.
