NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered all possible assistance for those injured in the Mazar-i-Sharif terrorist attack on Friday, in which more than 100 soldiers were killed and many others were injured.
The Prime Minister conveyed this in a letter to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, wherein Mr Modi reaffirmed India’s steadfast support to Afghanistan in fighting all forms of terrorism.
External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Gopal Baglay conveyed these in a series of tweets. “PM @narendramodi strongly condemns the attack, states India stands in solidarity with the government and people of Afghanistan, offers all possible assistance to the injured,” Mr Baglay said. “PM @narendramodi reaffirms India’s steadfast support to Afghanistan in fighting all forms of terrorism,” he said.
India has condemned the terror attack on an army base in northern Afghanistan. In a statement here on Saturday, the Ministry of External Affairs also made a veiled attack on Pakistan, without taking any name of a country, but said there is a “need to immediately dismantle the safe havens” that support and sustain terrorism in Afghanistan from outside its borders.
