JAMMU, Feb 5: Colonel Vinod Kumar, Postmaster General (PMG) Jammu, today met the Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain here at the Police Headquarters.
The focus of the meeting was to shed light on various welfare schemes designed for the benefit of police jawans and their families.
During the meeting, Colonel Vinod Kumar emphasized the significance of Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI), elucidating their low premiums and substantial bonus payouts.
Additionally, he highlighted the importance of the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, an affordable insurance scheme where individuals can secure coverage for a nominal annual cost of Rs 20, deducted directly from their POSB accounts.
PMG Jammu underscored the potential financial benefits that these schemes can offer to police jawans over time. The discussion delved into the intricacies of how these initiatives can serve as avenues for investment, providing a robust financial foundation for the jawans and their families.
Particular attention was given to the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, an initiative aligned with the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign. Colonel Vinod Kumar explained its current 8.2% interest rate, compounded annually, aiming to foster the education and well-being of the girl child in India.
As a gesture of goodwill, PMG Jammu presented the DGP J&K UT with Postal Life Insurance (PLI) calendars.
In response, the DGP assured that instructions would be issued to postal representatives, enhancing opportunities for J&K police jawans to make informed investment decisions.
The meeting concluded with detailed discussions involving officers responsible for the welfare of the J&K Police.
Colonel Vinod Kumar announced that officers from the postal department would be nominated to conduct awareness camps in Police establishments across each district in J&K.
