JAMMU, May 15: Adopting standard operating procedures, for regulating activities in construction sector from April 20, 2020 issued by the Government of UT of Jammu and Kashmir on April 16, PMGSY Jammu initiated the process of resuming the construction activities which had come to a grinding halt due to imposition of nationwide lockdown in the month of March this year.
A senior PMGSY official said that concerned District Magistrates were requested for issuance of movement passes for Engineering staff, contractors and permission for movement of machinery and mechanical transport for carrying minor minerals and after the approval given by respective District Administrations, works were resumed ensuring maintenance of social distancing and adherence to guidelines regarding protective measures.
Till today, 169 works have been resumed and total labourers engaged on these works are 2094 including 358 migrant labourers. The works which have been resumed include seven in Jammu district, three in Samba district, 25 in Kathua, 12 in Poonch, 23 in Rajouri, 35 in Udhampur, 20 in Reasi, 31 in Doda, three in Ramban while 10 in Kishtwar district.
