PMJAY health scheme has surpassed the world record: Javadekar

THANE: The Union Minister Prakash Javadekar has said that the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PMJAY) health scheme launched country wide has surpassed the world record of any other health programme in the world.
It was a record by itself and not even comparable with the Guiness world records he said.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched on Sunday Centre’s flagship Ayushman Bharat-National Health Protection Mission (AB-NHPM) from Ranchi.
The aim of the scheme, is to provide a coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family annually for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation through a network of empaneled health care providers.
Launching the scheme in Thane district on Sunday, Mr Javadekar said that since last 70 years, no one could find a solution to the prevailing situation of sicknesses of the citizens and the solution to treat them however Prime Minister Narendra Modi who at all times cared for the needy has found out a solution and floated this newest scheme he said. It would benefit nearly 50 crore citizens who are not covered under any other scheme and are petty professionals and daily wage earners. Such type of the programme was launched in as many as 680 districts in the country, he further said.
Efforts are on to have a tie up with private hospitals too. An e card would be given to the beneficiary which will be valid in any part of the country he said.
Giving a live example, MP Kapil Patil said the president of one taluka unit of the BJP died in accident leaving behind his handicapped child and a widow. He got the benefit of the PM insurance scheme where one is to pay Rs 12 per year and his family instantly got Rs. 2 lakh which was a great relief for them, he said.
