PM’s ‘Sankalp Se Sidhi’ prog launched in Kathua

KATHUA, Aug 24:    Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua, under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, Jammu organised `Sankalp Se Sidhi’ (Determination to attainment) – New India Movement (2017-2022), sponsored by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare here today.
The “Sankalp Se Sidhi” programme is being organised all over the country to take pledge by the stakeholder involved in agriculture and allied sectors, including farmers to put efforts which would lead to doubling of farmers’ income in the next five years.
MLA Kathua  Rajiv Jasrotia, was the chief guest and Dr RK Arora, Associate Director Extension (KVKs) was the guest of honour during the programme. It was attended by a large number of farmers  who took pledge along with  MLA, Kathua and staff of different departments to work for doubling the income of farmers by 2022. On the occasion, a video dedicated to farmers was also shown with a message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Jasrotia suggested the farmers  to avail the benefits of the Centrally sponsored schemes in agriculture and allied sectors. He stressed upon the determination and wisdom of Central Government for taking firm steps to solve the basic problems of farming community. He advised officials of  Agriculture and line departments to help farmers to adopt and utilise latest technologies for increasing agriculture productivity.
Dr Arora, Associate Director Extension (KVKs) discussed the Central and State sector schemes and suggested farmers to take full benefits for increasing their farm income. He emphasised upon the fact that more and more farmers are connecting to KVK for exposure to new agricultural technologies and urged the stakeholders to work for the farmers.
Dr Amrish Vaid, Incharge Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Kathua described the genesis of the Sankal- Se- Sidhi programme. Dr Pawan Kumar Sharma, Scientist delivered the expert lecture to discuss the schemes like e-National Agriculture Market, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, Soil Health Card Scheme, PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana etc. introduced by the government for achieving the objective.
An exhibition was also organised in which several government and private sector agencies like Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture,  Fisheries,  Forestry, Savannah India, Buyer’s Crop Science Ltd. participated.
