This has reference to the news item ‘Counselling begins for PMSSS’ DE July 26.
It is heartening to know that the counselling of students for admission in various colleges outside the State under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) has begun in the State. The scheme is surely going to benefit a good number of students in the State. But it should be ensured that the whole process is quite smooth and without any hiccups. The scheme had come under sharp criticism for faulty process and many students had to leave studies as money was not deposited in the colleges they were studying well in time. The students alleged that they were allotted colleges which had no colloboration with AICTE. It was quite humiliating and shocking to see these children coming home without completing their studies. Hope, the authorities would have ensured the removal of those pitfalls.
