JAMMU, Sept 29: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust today took stock of the recent political developments and also discuss strategies for the smooth passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill for which the KP community and the Trust is relentlessly struggling for the last more than a decade.
The members of the Trust in a meeting held here today, expressed great satisfaction over the reported statement of the Govt of India that it intends to renovate and restore the temples and shrines in Kashmir. The members said that it is for the first time since the militancy began in Kashmir that such a laudable move has been envisaged by the Government.
Members congratulated the Modi Government for the momentous initiative in preserving the priceless heritage of Kashmir and expressed hope that now the issue of the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill for the preservation and maintenance of the temples would also be brought.
Secretary, Sundri Lal Koul apprised the members about the activities of the Trust undertaken during the last one month and invited the members to make their presentations and suggest the future course of action. The members alleged that nothing was done by the previous Govts in the past and only lip sympathy was expressed. They said when there can be an Auqaf Act and Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Act, why not a Kashmiri Pandit Temple and Shrines Bill for the protection and preservation of the temples in Kashmir.
The members of the Trust who were present on the occasion included Shiban Khaibri Acting President PNBMT, Virender Raina , BL Bhat, HL Bhat, MK Bambroo, MK Jalali, AK Raina, SL Koul, Shadi Lal Koul, Kashmiri Lal Bhat, Dr RL Handoo, Bansi Lal Zar, Pradeep Koul, Sanjay Pandit and MK Bharat.
