PNBMT demands protection of shrines, temples land in Valley

JAMMU, May 23: Pt. Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) in its meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Pandita urged the Government to ensure the protection of the shrines and temples property in the Valley and put a check on the land sharks who are trying to grab the property of Hindu religious places in Kashmir.
The Trust, while reiterating its demand of constitution of Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Religious Places Board urged the Government to issue an ordinance in this regard as early as possible and also make inventory of land belonging to all Hindu shrines and temples in Kashmir. It issued a strong warning to the people and urged the Government to act forcefully against the unscrupulous elements who have converted or are trying to convert the Ahel Hanood (land belonging to Hindu Shirnes and Temples) on their personnel name and also retrieve the entire such land which has over the years been sold by such people.
The meeting however expressed its utmost satisfaction over the steps taken by the LG administration in renovating and developing various ancient Hindu shrines and temples in Valley and extended its full cooperation to Government in this regard.
Addressing the meeting, the care taker chairman C L Pandita appealed the displaced Pandits of South Kashmir districts of Anantnag and Kulgam to cast their vote enmass on May 23 to strengthen the democratic institutions of the country. He expressed the hope that the Kashmiri Pandits from Anantnag and Kulgam districts being aborigines of the Valley will ensure 100 percent voting in Anantnag -Rajouri constituency.
The meeting was also addressed by Kashmiri Lal Bhat, senior Trustee, G L Raina, ex MLC, Hira Lal Bhat, Trustee, Virender Raina , president Panun Kashmir, Shadi Lal Koul Rais and Sundri Lal Koul general secretaries of the Trust.
