PNBMT expresses anguish over Govt’s delaying tactics in enacting law

Protection of Hindu temples, shrines in Valley

JAMMU, Nov 23: Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) today warned to launch agitational programme for the enactment of law for protection of Hindu religious places and temples in Kashmir Valley.
In a meeting held here under the presidentship of its chairman, Roshan Lal Pandita the Trust expressed its dismay over the delaying tactics adopted by the successive Government over the years in passage of Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill.
They said with the dodging tactics of successive Governments the Hindu religious places in Kashmir are in very deplorable condition while the trespassing has also taken place at a large scale with administration being mute spectator to same.
The representatives from North Kashmir, Central Kashmir and South Kashmir were present in the meeting. They all were unanimous in intensifying the agitation by coming to roads for protection of Hindu Shrines and temples in the Valley which are in a total state of neglect for last three decades now.
Maintaining that the Hindu shrines in Kashmir are not merely temples but the religious and cultural monuments and some of them are dating back to thousands years of cultural history and Hindu civilization of Kashmir whose protection and upkeep is must for the posterity and nation as a whole.
The meeting made an appeal to Governor, S P Malik urging him to constitute the Board through by promulgating an Ordinance for the protection of temples and shrines in the Kashmir Valley.
It also decided to take up this issue during this years Chetan Divas falling on December 27 vigorously besides highlighting the other concerns of the displaced community which has totally been neglected by both Central and State Governments.
Those who addressed the meeting included Harji Lal Jad a senior KP leader, K K Khosa president JK P Sabha Jammu, M L Malla president, Kashur Samut Delhi, Swami Kumar Ji, Dr R L Shant, B L Saraf, retired District and Session Judge, Dr R L Bhat, Shiban Khybri a well known writer, B L Bhat of Nagdandi Ashram, Councilor Sheela Hando, Veena Gurto, Nath Ji Raina, Subash Chatta, R K Bhat, president YAIKS, Desh Rattan president AIMCCC, Hira Lal Bhat, Advocate Kashmiri Lal, B L Bhat, Ashok Kangan,Pardeep Koul, D N Bhat, Shadi Lal, Sundri Lal Koul, H N Pandita, advocate Jai Kumar, Bushan Lal, Shiban Ji Saraf, M K Raina, Roop Krishan Shah etc.
