PNBMT recalls Dr Chowdhry’s services in varied fields

JAMMU, Nov 7: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) organised a programme today to pay tributes to Dr. K. L. Chowdhry, a veteran physician, a well known writer and a social scientist who passed away in US recently. The function was organised to remember the life and times of Dr.Chowdhry for his enormous contributions to the Kashmiri Pandit society.
The function was chaired by noted literature and scholar, Prof. P.N. Trisal and Justice (retd) Sunil Hali was the chief guest on the occasion. A galaxy of community leaders and noted individuals attended the function. Floral tributes were offered to the portrait of the late leader and two minutes silence was also observed in the memory of the community stalwart. Two minutes silence was also observed in the memory of D.N.Kissu, chairman All Displaced Kashmiri Pandit United Front (ADKPUF) and a Trade Unionist who also passed away few days back.
The function was addressed by a galaxy of community leaders including Surinder Ambardar, Ajay Bharti, Ashwani Chrungoo, K. K. Khosa president, KP Sabha, Virender Raina president PK, M. K.Yogi, A.K. Raina, Dr. R. L. Bhat, R K Wangnoo president ASKPC, Dr. B.K.Handoo and Balkrishan Sanyasi.
Chief guest Justice Sunil Hali paid glowing tributes to Dr. Chowdhry for his immense contributions in so many fields. He said that the efforts of Dr. Chowdhry helped create a global consciousness regarding the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. Justice Hali eulogised the critical role played by Dr.Chowdhry in ameliorating the sufferings of the community in providing his medical advise as a doctor to the displaced community from Kashmir till his last breath.
Prof. P.N.Trisal said that Dr.Chowdhry was a man of letters and wrote extensively on the contemporary social and political issues and had a deep understanding of the societal situation.
Ashwani Chrungoo talked about his close association with Dr.Chowdhry and his contributions in the framing of the important Maargdarshan Resolution and also his espousal of the community cause in various national and international forums.
Virender Raina, president PK literally called him the Da Vinci (the famous inventor of Italy) of the KP community, who impacted every sphere from medicine to literature, poetry, columnist, orator, activist, thought leader.
BJP leader ex MLC, Surinder Ambardar said that Dr.Chowdhry had deep empathy for the community and was always ready to offer his services.
BJP spokesperson and ex MLC, Ajay Bharti while paying his tributes to Dr. Chowdhry said that “We have not come here to offer condolences but to celebrate the life lived by the great leader of our times and to take inspiration”.
Dr. R.L. Bhat talked about the literary journey of Dr. Chowdhry and gave an overview of his relationship with PNBMT and the institution of the Amateur Journalist Award Committee, of which he was the chairman.
Chairman, PNBMT Shiban Khaibri said that Pandits are fortunate to have a leader like Dr.Chowdhry who guided us at every step.
Dr.M.K.Bharat and Sundri Lal Koul conducted the proceedings of the function.
