JAMMU, Apr 3: PNBMT held an emergency meeting of the Core Group to deliberate upon a recent report in the press that the Government is contemplating the constitution of a Shrine Board for Bawe Wali Mata.
The Trust is enthused by the report and feels upbeat that the Government would similarly bring a bill for the protection and preservation of the Temples and Shrines of Kashmir Valley. PNBMT for the last one and a half decades has struggled to bring a bill in this regard and succeeded in creating a global consciousness regarding the condition of temples in Kashmir.
Displaced KP community and a vast majority of the nationalist opinion are of the firm belief that a bill for the preservation and protection of the temples in Kashmir alone can save this priceless heritage from destruction and usurpation.
The members were of the firm opinion that in the past the Government established Shrine Boards for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, Shri Sukrala Mata, Shri Shiv Khori Shrine and they have proved to be great successes. The Board’s such established under the law have been able to undertake developmental works for the betterment of the pilgrims and the people living around them.
Some members presented concept papers regarding the positive changes that would ensue if the bill is passed. Members said that once the bill is passed it would result in the efficient management and generation of funds. The resources could be used for the development of facilities for visitors and pilgrims and also for the building Universities and hospitals for the people of the UT.
The meeting was attended by chairman of the Trust Roshan Lal Pandita, Virender Raina president PK, Shadi Lal Koul Rais, general secretary, Sundri Lal Koul secretary and Kashmiri Lal.
