PNBMT to intensify struggle for passage of Temples Bill

JAMMU, Aug 1: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust held a meeting here, today and pledged to intensify its struggle for the passage of the Temple and Shrines Bill in Kashmir.
Former Session Judge and noted columnist B.L.Saraf expressed satisfaction that the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir has issued two orders of significance and far reaching consequence for the protection of Hindu temples in Kashmir. He said that even the highest authorities in the State have taken note of these orders and expressed firm desire for the protection and preservation of the age old temples of Kashmir.
He added that all these measures should ultimately lead to the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill.
Senior BJP leader Hira Lal Bhat said that there is a need for continuous engagement with the political spectrum in the State and the Centre and with the prospect of elections in the near future in the State the issue of the Temples Bill will get traction.
Virender Raina, president, Panun Kashmir said that the efforts of PNBMT over the years have been an inspiration to many individuals, groups and temple bodies in rekindling desire for the protection and preservation of the temples in Kashmir. Raina added that it was due to the efforts of PNBMT that a global consciousness was created for reclaiming the glory and grandeur of these magnificent structures.
Chairman of the Trust C.L.Pandita expressed serious concern over the mysterious fire incident in Mattan that resulted in the burning of four Kashmiri Pandit houses. Terming the incident as a serious act of sabotage to harass and terrorise the minority community he appealed the authorities to immediately bring the culprits to book.
In the meeting tribute were paid and two minutes silence was observed in the memory of Prabha Raina noted author and poetess and mother of Virender Raina president PK and mother of Chand Khar .
Kashmiri Lal Bhat senior trustee said that in the days to come the trust will hold a demonstration for the passage of the Bill.
Others who attended the meeting included senior KP leader, Moti Lal Malla, Hira Lal Jad, M.M Thaploo, B.K. Wantoo, Navin Bhushan, Behari Lal Zar, Ramesh Marhatta, Subhash Chatta and Shadi Lal.
