JAMMU, June 2: Private Nursing Homes Association (PNHA), Jammu province, in a meeting held here today, condemned the illegal arrest of Dr Satish Mehta and his team of doctors and paramedical staff following demise of a patient in his clinic.
Quoting the Supreme Court (SC) judgement in the case of Jacob Methews versus state of Punjab, which clearly directs that a doctor accused of negligence cannot be arrested in a routine manner just because a charge has been levied against him, unless there is a prima facie evidence against the accused doctor and the negligence proved by a duly constituted medical board of Government doctors, the association members said the police action in this case is gross violation of the SC judgement.
The meeting was attended by owners of CNC Nursing Home, SHS Hospital, Medicare Nursing Home, Goel Hospital, Max Life Hospital, Medicity Hospital and many other nursing homes.
