PoJK bodies observe Black Day

JAMMU, Oct 22: Various organisations of displaced persons from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) observed October 22 as Black day.
SOS International— an organization for PoJK DPs organised a function in this connection at its office in Bakshi Nagar area of Jammu today.
On the occasion, rich tributes were paid to thousands of people from Hindu and Sikh communities who were massacred during the Pakistani invasion in Jammu and Kashmir in 1947. The program started with “Sarva Dharma Prarthana” followed by recitation of heroic tales and poems of the time. The speakers deliberated on the continued indifferent attitude of the Union Territory administration towards families of displaced persons from PoJK.
Chairman of SOS International, Rajiv Chuni, said, “Despite being bonafide citizens of Jammu and Kashmir, we supported abrogation of articles 370 and 35 A. With the revocation of the semi-autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir, thousands of displaced families from PoK were expecting their longstanding demands to be fulfilled.  But instead of giving us promised ‘Achche Din’, the Government has become completely unaccountable to the long-neglected PoJK Displaced community.”
He lamented that even the welfare package passed by the State Government of NC-Congress in October 2014 have been abandoned by the Government of India. He said the post of Provincial Rehabilitation Officer (PRO) Jammu has been lying vacant for the past about one year. He alleged that even half of the 26,319 displaced families in Jammu haven’t received a one-time settlement package of Rs 5.5 lakh so far.
Senior members, VK Datta, Prof NN Sharma, Amarjit Singh, Dr RC Gupta, Gurmeet Singh Isher, Capt Kundan Lal and others also spoke on the occasion.
Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) in a brief meeting of the executive members of Tehsil Jammu and RS Pura held at Rohi Morh Jammu, paid rich tributes to over 40,000 martyrs who sacrificed their lives at the hands of tribals supported by Pakistani regular army and saved Indian part of Jammu & Kashmir. These martyrs have been forgotten by various dispensation of state and country and it is highly unfortunate that they were not given any place in the present history of the country.
While speaking in the meeting Gurdev Singh alongwith Netar Parkash, Dwarka Nath Khajuria and Santosh Kumar said that Oct 22, 1947 is an unforgettable day for DPs and is being observed as Black Day when thousand of Hindus and Sikhs were thrown out forcibly by tribals who slaughtered over 40,000 people of all ages. The women were raped, abducted and ravished in front of their relations and their properties of millions of rupees were looted and destroyed. He said that it was the worst kind of genocide which has ever been witnessed in the present history of the world. In Poonch also similar function was organized by JKSAC under the leadership of Bhushan Sharma where members paid tributes to martyrs of 1947.
BJP J&K general secretary and former MLC Vibodh Gupta today called for the early return of Pak Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) displaced persons to their motherland. Vibodh made these remarks while addressing a special gathering of PoJK displaced persons.
The programme was organised by Gita Mandir Simriti Bhawan Sanstha at Jammu today. Prior to this programme a Prabhat Pheri was also organised to offer Shradhanjali to the martyrs of Muzaffarabad who were martyred by tribals and Pakistan Army during invasion on 22 October 1947. Vibodh threw light on the history of various sacrifices made by the displaced people of PoJK. Paying his tributes to all those who were martyred on October 22, 1947, Vibodh said that we should never forget the sacrifices made by these innocent people.
Prominent among others who were present in the programme included dr Deepak Kapoor, Yash Pal Kapoor, Naveen Vij, Arun Tandon, Anju Tandon, Mamta Verma, Gourav Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Subash Amla and others.
Jammu Kashmir Unity Forum organized a Webinar “ Black Day Oct 22,1947-Pakistan invasion and not a tribal raid,” in connection with the Black Day today and said that war launched on this day is still continuing in new form. Dr Shabur Choudhary –a veteran PoJK leader, Maj Gen G S Jamwal, Prof Sajjad Raja, Rajiv Chuni, Ajaat Jamwal and several other people participated in the webinar and stressed the need to launch a final assault on Pakistan. They said on Oct 22, 1947 it was full attack by Pakistani Army on J&K and not tribal raid as projected by Pakistan and some other people on this part.
