JAMMU, Oct 15: The displaced persons (DPs) from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir today took out held protest demonstration against Government at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here today.
A large number of displaced persons including women activists led by refugee leader Rashpal Singh Chib, under the banner of  Jammu and Kashmir PoJK DPs Front-1947, 65 & 71 assembled  at Exhibition Ground near Dogra Chowk and then started protest demonstration. They proposed to take out protest march but the police prevented it.  They held strong protest at the venue and raised loud slogans in support of their pending demands. The agitating displaced persons were also carrying banners and placards in hands depicting their demands.
Rachhpal Singh Chib, president of the Front in his address alleged that Govt has failed to mitigate the sufferings of thousands of displaced families struggling for their rights for the last over six decades. He demanded  one time comprehensive settlement of the PoJK displaced families and alleged that  State Government was causing delay in forwarding package to the Union Government.
Mr Chib appealed all the bodies of DPs to get united for their common cause. The refugee leader also condemned the role of PRO Jammu for allegedly scuttling the process of implementation of Financial package. He further alleged that Provincial Rehabilitation  Officer Jammu was causing hurdles in the process of implementation of Financial package sanctioned by Govt of India vide No. 33/2/47 settlement Vol. IV, dated August 9, 2000. He said the  PRO had initiated the process of providing compensation against deficiency of land during October 2013 but no notification was issued in this regard asking DPs to submit their claims. He demanded that the left out DP families be registered without any delay, ownership rights to the DPs of 1947, 65 and 71 be given to all the DPs residing in Kathua, Samba, Jammu and other parts of the region. He also sought reservation for the DP youth in professional and other colleges and institutes besides universities and in Govt jobs.
The displaced persons resolved to conduct `Gherao’ of Revenue Minister, Javed Mustafa Mir and his junior, MoS Revenue Sunil Kumar in Jammu after Darbar Move.
