JAMMU, Feb 25: Former MLC and senior Congress leader Ravinder Sharma has said that the refugees/displaced persons from PoJK are undoubtedly Pahari speaking and entitled to the benefit of reservations irrespective of their caste, creed, colour or place of residence, apart from rightful claimants of the full relief package recommended by the then Government in the year 2014.
Interacting with a group of refugees of 1947 from PoJK here today, Sharma said that all refugees of PoJK from Mirpur, Poonch and Muzaffrabad are undoubtedly Pahari speaking people and are entitled to the benefit of reservation. He said that these people are the most deserving sections of Pahari community who are displaced from their original places of residence and have suffered huge losses during 1947. He said that he had already written to the then Governor on February 14, 2018 regarding the rights and issues of these displaced people, who can’t be deprived of their due rights.
Congress leader said that the displaced community has struggled a lot during past 70 years but the promised package as recommended by the J&K Government in 2014, has not been fully sanctioned by the Centre so far. Even the amount of Rs 5.5 lakh has also not being released to large no of eligible families even after 6 years of the BJP Government at the Centre.
He said that the package contained financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh per family at the time of migration, reservation to their wards in the technical courses and para military forces besides compensation to the left out families of the previous package. He said thousands of families are still deprived of the relief amount, in view of certain short comings in their documents, which are not traceable after long spell of time.
Certain families had got allotments in later years, due to delayed arrival during disturbances of 1947 and due to delay in allotment process to them and are facing hardships due to certain conditions. He sought immediate clearance of all pending cases regarding release of first installment of relief amount and sought full sanction of entire package of 2014 in toto, without further delay.
