JAMMU, Feb 20: The displaced persons (DPs) from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) held rally here today demanding implementation of the package announced by the Prime Minister and also lodged protest against the Provincial Rehabilitation Officers.
A large number of displaced persons including women activists under the banner of  Jammu and Kashmir PoJK DPs Front-1947, 65 & 71 assembled at  Exhibition Ground near Press Club this morning and started protest demonstration.  They demanded that process to implement package of Rs 2000 crore announced by  Prime Minister Narendra Modi be implemented without any further delay. They also demanded that left out families of DPs be registered for package.
The speakers were carrying banners and placards projecting their demands. They expressed gratitude to the PM and said that it is big ever achievement for the DPs. They said that this can not be considered as the final settlement. But a good beginning has been made.
Rachhpal Singh Chib, president of the Front, while addressing the gathering extended gratitude to the Prime Minister for this package and said that DPs are now hopeful that the Prime Minister would issue necessary directions to Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh to include the other recommendations also as forwarded by JPC for making this package a complete. He said that many other demands/ issues of the DPs have not been included in this package.
Mr Chib said that the rehabilitation package is  incomplete till other demands of 10 % reservation for the wards of DPs in professional institutions and Jobs, reservation of 8 Assembly and 2 Council seats for DPs are fulfilled. He said that creation of Development Board for the POJK DPs and Chhamb/ West Pakistan refugees is also strong demand of the  displaced persons.  He also demanded setting up of Refugee Development Board. He criticized Provincial Rehabilit-ation officer Jammu and Additional Commissioner for not properly implementing the earlier package of Rs 112 crore provided by Vajpayee in August 2000.
