JAMMU, Jan 29: The Displaced Persons from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir today held protest demonstration, projecting their demand of package in favour of pending 4200 cases, allotment of 10 marla land, ST reservation on the pattern of Paharis and 12 Assembly seats in favour of DPs from PoJK.
A large number of displaced persons, under the banner of PoJK DPs’ Front 1947, 1965 and 1971 and (Non Camp) led by its president, Capt (Retd) Yudhvir Singh Chib assembled at Maharaja Hari Singh Park in Jammu today and started protest demonstration. They were demanding that DPs be given compensation of Rs 30 lakh per family as recommended by the JPC. They extended gratitude to the Modi Govt for providing Rs 5.5 lakh per family but maintained that it was just one installment of the total package, recommended by JPC. Remaining amount of Rs 24.5 lakhs should also be released.
Chib further demanded that package amount in terms of 4200 files which were cleared recently by the Government be transferred in the accounts of beneficiaries. He also demanded ST reservation in favour of DPs from PoJK as provided to the Paharis from Rajouri and Poonch.
He further said that thousands Kanals of land retrieved from the land encroachers in Jammu and Kashmir, be provided to the DPs at the rate of 10 marla per DP family and other refugees.
Capt Yudhvir Chib demanded that out of the 24 seats kept for the PoJK area, 12 seats be allotted to the DPs from PoJK in the J&K Assembly. Refugees from Chhamb, settled in Pargwal area with hard work had cultivated lands along the bank of Chenab river. Under Roshni Act they were allotted lands prepared by them with hard work but the same have now been snatched by the Government. The Government by taking lenient view should restore those lands to them. He also demanded ST staus for the DPs from PoJK.
He further demanded that pending files with the Tehsildars/DCs pertaining to `will-deed’ and other nature should also be cleared without any further delay.
Various members of the organisation included JP Sharma- general secretary, KS Chib, Kehar Singh, Kamal Sharma and others also accompanied Chib.
