JAMMU, Mar 22: PoJK Displaced Persons Front -1947, 1965, 1971 & Non Camp has rejected the Government notification on relief package.
In a press statement issued here today, president of the Front Capt (Retd) Yudhvir Singh Chib said that the DPs in a meeting held at Exhibition Ground here have unanimously decided that the draft guidelines issued by the Divisional Commissioner vide letter No. 2/DPs/OT settlement/ 2113-15 dated 05-03-2016 and published by the Dy Commissioner in newspapers on March 19, 2016 has been totally rejected on the ground that this has been projected as last and final settlement by Government.
“ We reject these guidelines and not even accept Rs 2000 crore. No refugee/ DP family will furnish affidavit to the effect that this is last and final payment. Refugees are ready to accept Rs 2000 crore as first installment only and not the final settlement,” Capt Chib maintained.
The refugee leader said that as per notification it appears that neither the Centre nor State Government including Divisional Commissioner are aware of the problems of the refugees or they are doing it deliberately. They the playing with the sentiments of the DPs and therefore, the notification is rejected, Capt Chib said.
