PoJK DPs seek clarification from Govt on proprietary rights order

POONCH, Sept 12: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) District unit Poonch in a meeting expressed their strong resentment in respect of Govt order wherein DPs of 1947 from PoJK and other categories were conferred proprietary rights over the allotted evacuee lands similarly on the basis of order No. 254-C of 1965, where under proprietary rights were given to DPs over allotted State land.
The participants sought the clarification from the Govt that the concession granted to DPs in respect of transfer of evacuee lands under Section-3A of Agrarian Reform Act 1976 would be carried forward in the presence of guidelines/term and conditions issued with the said order. The said order has been termed as anti-DP and issued without application of mind. It was urged upon Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to withdraw the order forthwith.
While addressing the media Tarlok Singh Tara, president alongwith Ashok Sharma, Mangat Ram Sharma and Barkat Singh Azad criticized the Government for issuing the said order in haste and without undertaking the proper exercise thus blatantly ignoring the DPs problem with regard to possession and self cultivation of their allotted land, which are being raised from last more than 6 decades. He said thousands of families were allotted land were not handed over the possession till today. Number of families could not manage cultivation on their lands for the reason that the allotment of lands allotted in two or three villages miles away from their place of residence.
He said DPs are failed to understand that how the Government suddenly came out with above said order granting proprietary rights over the allotted evacuee lands as the same was earlier refused by all the Government under the plea that the demand cannot be considered as such a step would be against the constitutional stand taken by GoI is respect of that part which is under illegal occupation of Pakistan. The said order is absolutely contrary to the constitutional stand taken by GoI over PoJK.
He appealed to the Lt. Governor to intervene and withdraw the said order in the best interest of DPs who are clamoring for their adequate settlement form the last more than seven decades.
