JAMMU, May 20: All J&K PoJK 1947 Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum called a meeting of their Core Committee through video conferencing under the chairmanship of Adv. Amrik Singh its president and Surjit Singh general secretary today.
The agenda of the meeting was to apprise Delimitation Commission about the reservation of Legislative Assembly seats for PoJK DPS”OF 1947.
The Forum elaborated that in 1947 due to Pak army aggression about 10 lacs people displaced and came this part of J&K which is the Integral part of India after bearing a great loss as over than 10 lakh of their people attained martyrdom.
That the first Constituent Assembly of J&K passed a bill and reserved 25 seats for PoJK out of 111 J&K Assembly seats and later on one seat was released for Mendhar constituency and rest of 24 seats are still kept reserved for POJK people. The Forum Core Committee appealed the Commission that since about more than seven decades have passed the DPs of 1947 are badly deprived of their democratic rights as neither they have compensated of their leftout moveable or immoveable properties nor their political rights have been restored till date. They urged the Delimitation Commission to reserve some seats for them in Assembly besides the reserved seats be rotated.
The Forum said that this is the right time to consider this genuine demand and out of these 24 seats, at least eight seats be released for PoJK Sharnarthis where as a great hurdle of Art 370 and 35A has been removed by the Indian Parliament
S.Inder Singh Sooden corporator Ward No 44 ,Kuldeep Singh, Harbans Singh (retd), Group Captain, Paramjit Singh ex. corporator, Nasib Singh, Prof. K D Singh, Kuldeep Singh Kuku, Harbhajan Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Gursimran Singh, Khazan Singh Mohinder Singh, Pritam Singh, Avtar Singh, Jagjit Singh and others attended the meeting.
