JAMMU, Aug 19: Muzzaffrabad (PoK) Refugees Welfare Society, Patiala (Punjab) has appealed for justice to all stake holders of J&K.
A spokesman of the organization said that the major demand of all the DP organizations working at Jammu and other States of India has now been raised by Nishikant Dubey, the BJP MP from Jharkhand. He has called for Lok Sabha seats in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Gilgit-Balochistan. Dubey wants the Government to introduce a bill in Parliament announcing Lok Sabha seats in PoK as well as Gilgit-Balochistan.
Jammu and Kashmir Assembly already have 24 seats reserved for the parts occupied by Pakistan. The seats reserved for PoK in the State Assembly remain officially vacant, and are not taken into account for reckoning the total membership of the Assembly. Though the step of the Government is belated but community welcomes the same, the spokesman added.
He said those who migrated from PoJK after the Tribal raids (mainly from Muzzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimber, Deva Batala etc were named by the Govt of India as displaced people from PoJK .Their properties were not registered and no compensation has been made even after seven decades. 5,300 families were settled pushed outside the State of J&K (Delhi 1, 901 families, Maharashtra 123 families, Rajasthan 495 families and other States 2,781 families who could not get PRC even. They were left on the pity of different states who never paid any interest for their upliftment due to their political ambitions.
They were deprived of the right of any reservation in education and employment sectors on the pattern of Valley migrants. The root cause thereof was poverty and unorganized set up of these DPs. Neither the UN nor any international Human Rights Organizations have cared for their cause over 70 years. No educational / employment or commercial support was provided to PoJK DPs by State or Central Govt.
The organization strongly demand that immediate steps should be taken to get reserved at least 8 seats in the State Assembly for the DPs of PoJK which are more than 12 lakh in Jammu and other States. It will strengthen the claim of India on PoJK and a platform for the DPs to get resolved their long awaited problems. Proper reservation of PoJK DPs in all the fields at Centre and State level be done keeping in view the interest of 5300 families ( now the number gone to manifold ), residing outside the J&K State; take measures for fair and equitable disbursement of financial package to those who have legitimate right to this assistance as they too are very much State Subject of J&K.
