JAMMU, Aug 1: The refugees from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) today held strong protest demonstration in support of their over six-decades long pending demand of comprehensive and final settlement.
A large number of members of refugee families including women, under the banner of PoJK Refugees’ Front led by its leader Rashpal Singh Chib assembled at Exhibition Ground near old Tawi bridge and held protest demonstration. They were carrying placards and banners in hand and staging protest against the Government.
Mr Chib said that the present J&K State Assembly is at the fag end of six years now and the PoJK refugees are protesting for the last many years. This Government too, has turned a deaf ear towards the issues of PoJK refugees. Only assurances were given and they were befooled again and again by the Congress regime and the PCC chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz. Some Ministers and Congress leaders also just claimed that they were refugees but they too, only tried to exploit these people and used them for their vote bank. NC-Congress alliance with well designed strategy has tried its best to dodge over 14 lakh refugees and now they will face the consequences in coming elections. Both have already suffered defeat in the previous Lok Sabha elections.
Mr Chib said no Kashmir centric party ever supported the Jammu refugees and they are the main hurdle in resolution of the pending issues. Over 14 lakh refugees would teach a lesson to the parties who have ditched them and only exploited in the past for vote bank. He also cautioned the refugees to remain vigilant from the nefarious designs of some `so called refugee leaders’ who tried to contest elections and then withdrew with some internal understanding duping lakhs of refugees.
