JAMMU, May 3: The refugees from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) held strong protest demonstration in support of their demands at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here today.
A large number of displaced persons from Deva- Batala, Bhimber, Mirpur, Chhamb, Nah, Manawar, Kotli, Muzaffrabad, Palandhari and Bagh area of Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir, led by refugee leader Rachhpal Singh Chib assembled at Exhibition Ground under the banner of  Jammu and Kashmir PoJK Refugee Front-1947, 65, 71.
A large number of women activists also accompanied the protest rally.
The agitating refugees were carrying banners and placards in their hands depicting their demands. They assembled there at around 11 am and started protest demonstration against the Central and the State Government. The agitating people were shouting  slogans  in support of their long pending demands.
Rachhpal Singh Chib and some other refugee leaders also addressed the rally. They pointed out that despite directions by the Central Government, the State Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah from National Conference has failed to  send the proposal. A package of Rs 25 lakh per family has been worked out but the same has not been forwarded to the UPA Government at the Centre.
These uprooted families were befooled many times earlier by the respective Governments on the issue of  comprehensive settlement. Nothing concrete has come out so far despite many representations, protests and  meetings. They demanded that an early decision be taken in this regard. They termed the Kashmir based regional parties as anti-refugee and hoped that next Government at the Centre would do something for the refugees.
