JAMMU, June, 24: All JK PoJK 1947 Sharanarthi Intellectual Forum today said that Government at Centre and State should work hand in hand to cater the suffering of Sikh community who were displaced from Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir in 1947.
While addressing a press conference, here today, President Advocate Amrik Singh further said that any amount or relief package would not lessen the sacrifices made by the PoK refugees. “The future of three generations has been put in ambiguity by various successive governments and their party will not allow it to happen anymore as the PoK refugees have already faced much cruelty and apathy since their exodus from their ancestral places,” he said and added that Government should also register claims of those whose movable and immovable assets have been left in PoJK at time of their displacement.
“Every day, we come across the statements of various ministers who say that it is just the beginning and much more will be given to PoK refugees but it seems that they are befooling us or are totally ignorant of the ground realities,” he said.
“The Government should make its stand clear. Why 8 seats out of 24 reserved for PoJK have not been made open for those who have been displaced from PoJK?” he asked.
He also said that State should implement minority commissions recommendations in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Sikhs are minority in the State but majority communities are enjoying benefits.
He added that State Government should take initiative for implementation of Aanand Marriage Act in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that State Government behaviour towards community needs to be changed so that Sikhs may not feel deprived of their rights.
Among others present were Advocate Amrik Singh, President All JK PoJK 1947 Sharanarthi Intellectual Forum, Surjeet Singh, General Secretary, Paramjeet Singh, Ex Corporator, Ramneek Singh , Fateh Singh, Darvinder Singh, Raja Singh, DGPC, LS Gill and others.
