PoJK Sharnarthi Forum demands reservation in Legislature

JAMMU, June 14: All J&K PoJK 1947 Sharnarthi Intellectuals Forum in a meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of Advocate Amrik Singh its president stressed on grant of reservation to the Sikh community in the State Legislature under revised delimitation process.
The meeting demanded that out of 24 seats at least eight seats be reserved for PoJK 1947 Sharnarthis and out of which four seats be reserved for J&K Sikh community members. The meeting further demanded that while the bifurcation of seats three seats be kept for Jammu region and one for Kashmir Valley Sikhs.
The Forum also expressed its happiness over the statement of Union Minister for Minorities to distribute scholarships among the children belonging to minorities. It said 70 percent of refugees from PoJK belong to Sikh community but they have never been given benefit of any scholarship till date.
It said all funds are being transferred to Kashmir Valley for last 71 years which is a great injustice to Jammu region children belonging to minorities.
The Forum also decided that it will extend full support to Governor’s administration in its steps to eradication of corruption form the State. The meeting among others was attended by Surjeet Singh general secretary of Forum, Paramjeet Singh ex Corporator, Paramjeet Singh Shingari, K D Singh, Nasib Singh, Avtar Singh, Khazan Singh, Capt (retd) Mian Singh, Bhajan Singh, Pritam Singh and others.
