JAMMU, May 7: All J&K 1947 POJK Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum held a convention of PoJK displaced persons under the presidentship of Amrik Singh which was also addressed by Surjit Singh secretary of the Forum.
The Forum urged both the Union as well as UT administration to fulfil the long pending demands related to the PoJK Sharnarthees.
The Forum reiterated that a large community of Sharnarthees is persistently struggling for their legitimate demands but it is the matter of regret that none of the main demands were either considered by UT Government or by the Union Government except the grant of ex-gratia amount of Rs.5.50 lakhs
In a resolution it demanded that their legitimate demands be solved at the earliest.
The Forum said since the State Government has already recommended a comprehensive package of Rs 30 lakh to Union Government in the shape of compensation to per family and even Wadhwa Commission reports have already recommended the package of Rs.30 lakh.
The Forum said Union Government Ministry of Home Affairs sanctions Rs.5.50 lacs per family out of Rs 30 lakh and remaining 24.50 lakhs is still pending. The Forum demanded for their clearances at the earliest possible times.
The Forum said that for the last 75 years the left out properties moveable and immovable of refugees were not registered either by State Government or by Union Government and demanded early registrations of the same.
The Forum demanded political representation to the PoJK Sharnarthees. It demanded that at least 10 seats be got defreezed for PoJK displaced persons and since the Delimitation Commission had also submitted their final report to the Union Government and at least on eight seats PoJK 1947 Sharnarthees be nominated.
It demanded grant of admission to the children of PoJK Sharnartis in professional colleges like Engineering, Medical etc on the pattern of Kashmiri Pandit children throughout the country, registration of their left out moveable and immoveable properties claims in PoJK ,inclusion of the PoJK Sharnarthees in the Schedule and be given Pahari status like Gujjars and Bakerwals.
It welcomed the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for extension of the date of relief package up to one year.
