JAMMU, Dec 27: SOS International – an organization for PoK Displaced Persons (DPs) today began its indefinite chain dharna at its headquarters here at Bakshi Nagar against the apathy of Government over their issues.
PoK DPs who started dharna were Rajiv Chuni, Parmod Ghai, Bhai Ram Singh, Ved Raj Bali and Sanjiv Suri. Every day 5 PoK DPs would sit on chain dharna. The dharna began to create pressure on Governor Administration for fulfilling demands of PoK DPs.
The demands of SOS International are implementation of whole package passed by State Cabinet in October 2014 for PoK DPs, providing facilities to all displaced people at par with Valley migrants, reservation of 8 seats for people displaced from PoK in J&K Legislative Assembly, permission to PoK DPs to visit to their religious places in PoK, inclusion of 5,300 PoK DPs families living outside the State in the ambit of package passed in October 2014 and return of cash deposits with interest to PoK DPs lying with J&K Bank Mirpur.
While speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Chuni said that Government has forced PoK DPs to sit on indefinite dharna in such biting cold they have fallen prey to false promises of various hostile forces and this time, Central and State Governments are traumatizing them by ruining their package and demands.
He stated that the package passed by NC-Congress coalition in year 2014 must be implemented in toto. Government has broken all the records of being biased against PoK DPs as on one hand it showers a lot of affection towards Valley migrants and on other hand it shows hatred against PoK DPs.
Chuni further said that BJP’s slogan ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ has become stale and meaningless slogan as it is evident that the ‘Vikas’ is confined to only one set of migrants as it keeps on focusing for the development of this specific community neglecting all other displaced communities.
