JAMMU, Jan 9: Indefinite protest dharna of the displaced persons (DPs) from Pak occupied Kashmir under the banner of SOS International, entered the 14th consecutive day at Bakshinagar here today.
Led by Sanjiv Kumar and accompanied by Kapoor Chand, Ravinder Sharma, Sanjiv Suri, Karan Raina and Bansi Lal, the protest dharna at the office of SOS International at Bakshinagar , continued on the 14th consecutive day. They lambasted BJP for keeping a distance from the PoK DPs, who have been sitting on chain dharna despite terrible cold weather to project their legitimate demands, since December 27, 2018.
A spokesman of SOS international said that to make PoK DPs aware of the deceptive designs adopted by both State and Central Governments for their petty gains, the SOS International, an organization for PoK Displaced Persons under the chairmanship of Rajiv Chuni will soon kick-start an awareness campaign from Poonch to Lakhanpur and RS Pura to Banihal to educate them about how they have been fallen prey to BJP leaderships in the last Parliamentary and Assembly elections.
He said BJP office is merely 4 kms away from the dharna site. The BJP leadership is deliberately avoiding to visit and face agitators as BJP don’t want to implement the whole package and give equal treatment to all migrants/DPs, provide Assembly seats and include 5300 DP families in the package. “Instead of PoK DPs, if Valley migrants had been sitting on dharna, the entire BJP leadership from Kashmir to Delhi, would have been rushed to spot,” he remarked.
He further said that out of 36,884 only 12,000 PoK DPs families have got the relief amount till now. If the pace of disbursing relief amount among PoK DPs moves-on in such speed, it will take nearly 3 years to complete the task of first installment , he added.
