JAMMU, Jan 15: The ongoing indefinite chain dharna by SoS International for the resolution of legitimate demands under the constitutional rights, today entered into 20th consecutive day today.
Today’s dharna was led by Om Parkash Saraf from Sunderbani, assisted by Pt Kewal Krishan, Mohan Singh, Parshotam Singh, Arjun Singh and Bishan Bakshi.
They are demanding implementation of the whole package passed by State Cabinet in October 2014 for PoK Displaced Persons, facilities to all displaced at par with Valley Migrants, reservation of eight Assembly seats for people displaced from PoK , permission to PoK DPs to visit to their religious places in PoK, inclusion of 5, 300 PoK DPs families living outside the State in the ambit of package passed in October 2014 and return of cash deposits with interest to PoK DPs lying with J&K Bank Mirpur.
While addressing the gathering, the Om Parkash Saraf lambasted the alleged arrogant attitude of BJP MLAs and MPs who have totally disconnected with refugee community. “More than 80 percent of this population is living under most miserable condition under poverty line and has been completely ignored by these power hungry politicians of BJP regime,” he said.
Saraf lamented that genuine grievances of PoK DPs have not been addressed by BJP Government. “Rumors are being floated that Rs 5.5 lakhs has only been disbursed by the present regime but the same is not correct as the process for disbursement of compensation was started much before the BJP came to power at Centre,” he claimed and warned that the incumbent Government would be taught a lesson in the forthcoming elections.
Saraf further warned that the agitational path by the SoS International, under the leadership of Rajiv Chuni may take fierce shape in due course and the Government would be absolutely responsible for any untoward happening if the issues were not resolved amicably.
