JAMMU, Dec 25: In the way, PoK DPs’ package and demands are being destroyed under preplanned conspiracy by the Government of India and the Governor’s administration, we have decided to launch indefinite chain dharna that will begin from December 27 until and unless our main key issues related to PoK DPs are not fulfilled.
This was stated by SOS International, chairman, Rajiv Chuni, in a press conference at its headquarters in Bakshi Nagar, Jammu. Chuni said that PoK DPs are fed up of the brutal approach of Government to resolve the issues of the community who have been starving for the last 70 years and living under inhumane conditions as Government has failed to provide much needed justice for the foremost victims of State.
“The chain dharna marks main key issues related to PoK DPs like implementation of PoK DPs package passed by NC-Congress Cabinet in 2014 in toto, implementation of uniform policy for all the migrants/displaced communities including PoK DPs, establishment of corridors for PoK DPs to visit their religious places & shrines located in PoK, restoration of 1/3rd seats lying vacant for PoK areas in Legislative Assembly, inclusion of 5300 DPs families living outside the J&K State in the ambit of package for PoK DPs and return of cash deposits of PoK DPs lying in the J&K Bank, Mirpur Branch”, Chuni revealed.
He further said that SOS International has been writing for seeking time from Governor for the last 3 months but no response has been received so far. “Governor has made tall claims that he is available to everyone, doors of his office are open to all the citizens of the State, his administration is always ready to mitigate the sufferings of people but unfortunately all the claims have been proved farce,” Chuni added.
He further said that Government’s concern is confined to only Valley migrants as it keeps on focusing for the development of this specific community neglecting other displaced persons especially PoK DPs and other migrants of State.
