JAMMU, Nov 15: SOS International organized delegates’ session to know their opinion regarding announcement of monetary compensation by the Prime Minister for PoK DPs.
Thousands of PoK DPs’ delegates across the State participated in the session. The delegates unanimously rejected the package announced by PM and vowed to keep the struggle more intensified to get the justice.
While speaking, Rajiv Chuni, Chairman, SOS International called the package a farce. “Modi announced Rs 5263 crores not only for PoK DPs but Valley Migrants, Border migrants, West-Pakistani Refugees, 4 IRP battalions, DPs of 1965, 1971 and DPs of 1947 were also allocated the amount, which is extremely pathetic. “The previous State Government proposed in their cabinet meeting Rs 9096 crores for 31619 families of 1947 and 4765 families of 1965 and 1971 i.e. Rs 25 lakhs per family but Modi announced Rs 5263 Crores that too is not exclusive for PoK DPs”, he said and added that it is a cruel joke with PoK DPs.
“CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during a recently held press conference announced Rs 2000 crores out of Rs 80,068 crores for PoK DPs which is totally out of sense as he didn’t clear whether it’s first installment or something else because previous State Cabinet had recommended Rs 9096 crores”, he said and stressed that instead of providing Rs 25 lakhs per family as per the State Cabinet approval for PoK DPs, PM and CM are befooling the community.
Chuni stated that promises made by Prime Minister Modi to solve the pending demands of PoK DPs during elections turned as “Jumla”.
While addressing the session, Prof JS Mangal, SOS International, said that PM having only Kashmir Centric ideology cheated PoK DPs who have been waiting for the much awaited relief from Government.
General Secretary of SOS International, Dr Gurmeet Singh while addressing the delegates’ session criticized PM over his announcement of package as PoK DPs have been cheated again as Modi failed to fulfill his promise made during Hiranagar election rally.
Dr Gurmeet further added that the decision taken by SOS International will be bound on us and a decisive struggle will be fought to get much awaited justice.
Among others who spoke were Lalit Kumar, Roshan Lal, Virinder Khajuria, Gurmeet Singh Isher, Harbans Sabharwal, Sharda Devi, Prof Narinder Sharma and Bishan Bakshi.
