JAMMU, Sept 25: Chairman of SOS International, an organization for PoK displaced persons, Rajiv Chuni has alleged that PoK refugees have been duped by respective political parties and the governments.
Addressing a rally of PoK refugees from different parts of Jammu city at Rehari today, Mr Chuni criticized State and Central Governments for their callous attitude towards them. He held public representatives from Jammu province responsible for the delay being caused in granting relief to the PoK refugees. He lambasted both Members of Parliament from Jammu region for keeping callous attitude and grudge against PoK refugees.
Chuni further alleged that Dr Jitendra Singh who is also MoS in PMO has not talked about the issues pertaining to PoK refugees. Dr Singh who used to proclaim that he would raise the issues of PoK refugees and provide the fruit of their 7 decades long struggle has maintained silence. Dr Singh became MP and a ray of hope was dawned among refugees that their trouble times would be over shortly but on the contrary, they are taken for a ride.
He further said that Rs 2000 crore relief meant for PoK refugees is still hanging in balance as the things have not been made clear till date. “Intention of BJP led Government has become clear to all that it has no concern with PoK refugees which is has been bearing the trauma since 1947,” he stated.
While lambasting MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, he said that MP has broken all records of cheating the refugees. “Mr Jugal is the same MP who led the “Refugee Adhikar Yatra” and made tall, …. but hollow claims to bring relief to PoK refugees. The magnitude of his falsehood can be gauged by the fact that he has claimed in the presence of thousands of PoK refugees that Government of India is going to provide Rs 40 lakh instead of Rs 25 lakh passed by State Cabinet. Before polls, he had promised to solve all problems once BJP Government would come in power. He used all foul tricks to dupe PoK refugees to get votes but after polls, PoK refugees problems were kept in the cold storage by this MP”, he alleged.
On the occasion 24 life members of SOS International were honoured. Lalit Kumar, Prof JS Mangal, Prof NN Sharma, Roshan Lal, VK Datta, Tarvinder Singh, Roshan Malhotra, Sat Paul Lakha, OP Khajuria and Ashwani Bakshi also spoke on the occasion.
