PoK visitor dies of heart attack

POONCH, Oct 29: A resident of Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK), who had come here to meet his relatives at Draba in Poonch and later at Rajouri, died due to heart attack in hospital today.
Identified as Mohd Shafi (65), son of Jamal Din, resident of Thanwal village in Mirpur (PoK), he had come here to meet his relatives (cousins) at Draba and Rajouri. He crossed over to this side through Chakkan-da-Bagh on October 15, 2012 and was scheduled to return this week.
Police said Shafi had crossed over to PoK in 1965. He came here after 48 years and celebrated Eid festival with relatives. During his stay at cousin, Mohd Zamil’s house, he also paid visit to the grave of his late mother and offered special prayers there. He arrived Rajouri two days back to meet his other relatives. Last night, he developed some chest pain and the relatives shifted him to district hospital, where he died after some time. The doctors declared that he died of cardiac arrest.
After completion of all the legal formalities, the district police authorities contacted Pakistani authorities and then body was taken to Chakkan-da-Bagh LoC point by police and relatives residing on this side this afternoon. Then it was handed over to Pak authorities at the LoC point in the evening. The family members of the deceased had also arrived on that side to take the body back.
