Police arrests 2 ladies, seizes 30 litres of illicit liquor

KATHUA, Jan 31: In another breakthrough in its drive against the trade of illicit liquor, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal seized approximately 30 litres of illicit liquor (Desi) at Chak Drab Khan area of PS Kathua, one Distillation Unit was also seized and two ladies were arrested on spot.
Acting on reliable information regarding the trade of illicit liquor by few persons at Chak Drab Khan and its adjoining areas of PS Kathua, a police party led by Inspector, O P Chib, SHO PS Kathua under the supervision of DySP
Headquarters, Kathua, Shammi Kumar -raided at Chak Drab Khan area and apprehended two suspected ladies namely Reema Devi, wife of Ashok Kumar of Chak Drab Khan, tehsil & district Kathua and Neelam Devi wife of Lt. Sham Lal of Chak Drab Khan tehsil & district Kathua.
During the checking approximately 30 litres of illicit liquor were recovered which they had kept in their illegal possession and selling the same to the people of the area in order to gain illegitimate profit.
Meanwhile, all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor (approximately 30 litres) along with one Distillation Unit was seized and two ladies were arrested in this connection.
In this regard a case vide FIR No. 32/2023 U/S 48(a) Excise Act got registered at PS Kathua and further investigation is underway.
Kathua Police once again requested to people of the area to come forward and share information about any such illicit activity with police for the cause.
