Srinagar, Jan 11: Police today arrested three drug peddlers in Kupwara and Sopore, recovering heroin and charas from their possession.
In Kupwara, authorities reported that a police team from the Bazaar police post, during routine checking at Galizoo, intercepted two suspicious individuals.
They were identified as Mohd Ashraf Khan, son of Ghulam Ali Khan, a resident of Arampora Halmatpora, and Irshad Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar, a resident of Halmatpora, police said.
“During their personal search, 10 grams of a heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession,” the police added.
In Sopore, a police team led by the SHO of Police Station Tarzoo, at a checkpoint established at Tarzoo, intercepted an individual carrying a nylon bag.
According to the police, he has been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Sheikh, a resident of Shorgari Mohalla Tarzoo.
“During the search, the police recovered 7.270 killograms of a contraband cannabis powder-like substance from his possession,” the police stated.
All the accused have been arrested and shifted to their respective police stations.
