Police arrests absconders after 31 yrs

Srinagar, Feb 24: Continuing with its action against the absconders, Police today said to have arrested two absconders who were evading their arrest for a long time.
A police spokesperson in a statement said that acting on reliable information regarding an absconder namely Bashir Ahmad Zagoo, son of Ghulam Mohammad Zagoo, resident of Sagam, Kokernag in Anantnag who was evading his arrest for the last 31 years, was nabbed.
“Srinagar Police arrested him from Shimla Himachal Pradesh. He was wanted by law for his involvement in case FIR Number FIR No. 35/1990 Under Section 379 RPC of PS Nishat. The accused has been presented before the court at Srinagar by PS Nishat,” police said.
Another absconder namely Farooq Ahmad Rajput son of Shahzaman Rajput resident of Chount Waliwar, police said, was arrested by Ganderbal Police who was evading his arrest from July 2019.
“After tip-off about the presence of the said absconder at a specified location, a police party from Police Station Kangan under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Yasir Qadri-JKPS raided the place and subsequently arrested the absconder,” police said.
It said that the absconder was wanted by law for his involvement in case FIR Number 40/2019 U/S 420, 392, 506, 120B RPC of Police Station Kangan.
