SRINAGAR, Mar 30: Police arrested an administrator of a Whatsapp group for circulating a photograph of a person on social media who has joined militant ranks.
A Police spokesman said, Farooq Ahmad Mir, a resident of Beehama approached police with complaint that photograph of his son namely Aqib Farooq Mir is being circulated on social media as a terrorist by fake name of Umar Shair Gojri alias Abu Zeeshan.
He said on preliminary investigation, one person Manzoor Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Masjid Pora Tulmulla who is a rumor monger and an admin of Whatsapp groups “Shariyat Ya Shahadat” and “Fiza Telecom” was arrested.
“In this regard a case FIR number 46/2018 under Section 500, 505, 153 RPC has been registered and further investigation is going on. More arrests are expected of people indulging in rumor mongering to disturb peace and tranquility,” he said.
