KATHUA. Apr 10: While continuing the drive against illegal drug peddling and drug addiction in the district, police under the overall directives of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, today caught father daughter duo involved in drug peddling since long having a couple of FIRs registered in NDPS Act against them in the district.
A joint team of Anti Drug Unit Kathua and a team of Police Station, Kathua under the guidance of DySP Operations, Kathua, Bhisham Dubey led by Inspector, Vishal Kumar during naka checking noticed two suspicious persons who were stopped for checking.
On questioning, they disclosed their identity as Rupesh Kumar alias Bobby son of Kapoor Chand and Kanchan Loyal his daughter.
During their personal search, nine grams of heroin like substance was recovered in total from their possession.
Police said that Rupesh Kumar alias Bobby is an notorious drug peddler and have few FIRs lodged against him in NDPS Act viz. FIR No 228/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS ACT,FIR No 251/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS act and FIR No 381/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS ACT in PS Kathua.
On this, case FIR No. 164/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS ACT has been registered and investigation is going on.
The district Police’s consistent action against drug menace is to reassure the community members that we are doing every possible step to keep our society free from the scourge of drugs menace.
Kathua police has appealed to the general public to come forward and share the vital information with the police regarding any illegal activity. Police has promised that their identity will be kept confidential.
