SAMBA, Aug 23: Samba Police has arrested a hardcore criminal and recovered an illegal pistol and five cartridges from his possession at Chak Dayala near Basantar bridge today.
Police said a team of Police Post (PP) Rakh Amb Talli under DySP Headquarters and SHO PS Samba headed by Incharge PP Rakh Amb Talli during special naka at Chak Dayala near Basantar bridge, intercepted a person who was moving in the area under suspicious circumstances. During his frisking, one pistol and five live rounds were recovered for his possession.
Police said the accused identified as Mohd Latief alias Latief Punjabi, son of Bashir Ahmed of Malpur tehsil, Garh Shankar district Hoshiarpur (Punjab) at present Chak Dayala, Samba has been arrested and a pistol along with live cartridges have been seized.
A case FIR No. 216/2024 U/S 3/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station (PS) Samba and further investigation is going on.
The arrested accused is an infamous hardcore criminal and is involved in multiple cases of attempt to murder, theft, rioting and abetment and Arms Act cases registered against him in District Samba (J&K) and Punjab State, police said.
