KATHUA, May 16: Acting tough against the trade of illicit liquor in the district, Kathua police seized approximately 15 litres of illicit liquor at Chak Drab Khan near here and arrested one lady in this connection.
Police said yesterday a team led by PSI, Swarn Singh Manhas under the supervision of Dy SP, Headquarters Kathua, Manjeet Singh and Inspector, Sudhir Sadhotra, SHO, PS Kathua during special checking in its jurisdictional area at Chak Drab Khan Kathua apprehended one lady. During checking, approximately 15 litres of illicit liquor was recovered from her possession. She has been identified as Pooja Devi, wife of Late Joginder Kumar of Chak Drab Khan Kathua.
Police said the lady was involved in the trade of illicit liquor in Chak Drab Khan area to get illegitimate profit. All the recovered consignment of illicit liquor was seized by the police team and one lady was arrested. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 208/2023 U/S 48(a) Excise Act stands registered at PS Kathua and further investigation started.
