Police arrests librarian on molestation charges

Srinagar, May 7: Police today arrested librarian of a private schools in Baramulla on charges of molesting students.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir, Garib Dass, said here that police arrested Shabir Ahmad War, a retired government teacher who was engaged by a private school as librarian, after a molestation complaint was lodged against him.
Dass said that police have registered a case ((FIR No 762015 under Section 354) and are investigating the matter. He said that the accused has been arrested.
The DIG said that they will give directions to the schools to install CCTVs for security of the students and other staff. He said that in case of any incident, it will help in investigations.
Reports said dozens of minor girls between the age group 9-16 were allegedly molested by War over a period of time.
Angry parents alleged that the principle and owner of the school, in Baramulla was knowing about these molestations.
A 9-year-old-girl, class fourth student, was molested more than five times inside the school premises of School in Sheerwani Colony area Baramulla, following which the Baramulla police arrested the librarian.
“My daughter refused to go to school recently. After I insisted her what the matter was. She said that Shabir Sir had been insisting her to come to the hall of the School and in many instance he closed the door and molested her in the bathroom,” said mother of the student. She initially lodged a complaint with the school administration but they threatened her with dire consequences if she raised the issue.
The mother of the student went straight to Baramulla Police Station and lodged a complaint against the school and the teacher. The SHO Baramulla immediately sent a team of police personnel and arrested the accused librarian.
The parents are demanding arrest of owner of the school.
