Police arrests militant associate

Srinagar, Oct 11 : Police along with security forces arrested a militant associate of Lashkar-e-Toiba and recovered two hand grenades, cash and other incriminating materials from his possession in Baramulla.
Acting on a specific input regarding movement of militants in Ushkara area of Baramulla yesterday, a joint checkpoint was established jointly by Baramulla Police, Army (46 RR), MI and 53 Bn CRPF in the said area.
“During checking, a suspicious person who was coming towards the checkpoint tried to flee from the spot after noticing the joint party, but was apprehended tactfully by the alert party,” he said.
During his search, two hand grenades, cash amounting to Rs 40,000 and other incriminating materials were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Hamid Bhat, resident of Ushkara Baramulla linked with proscribed militant outfit LeT/TRF.
Accordingly, a case under relevant Sections of law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla and further investigation has been initiated.
