Police attach another property of drug peddler in Akhnoor

JAMMU, Mar 8: In continuation of their ongoing drive against the drug peddlers, police in Jammu District attached another property of a drug peddler worth approximately Rs 5 lakh.
A police spokesperson said that a private car of drug peddler Rohit Dutta’s spouse has been seized in Akhnoor area.
“District Police Jammu executed the operation Under Section 68A (d) & E read with 68-F of the NDPS Act of 1985, dealing with provisions for attachment of properties of family, relatives, and associates involved in drug peddling. The mandate has been provided for accused detained under PIT NDPS Act also,” said the spokesperson.
Rohit Dutta is presently detained under PIT NDPS Act by the police in Akhnoor area in a warrant issued by Divisional Commissioner Jammu and is lodged in District Jail Kathua. There are several cases against the accused, including many of drug peddling.
The property, identified as proceeds of narcotics from ill-gotten gains acquired through illicit drug trafficking was uncovered during thorough investigation and inquiry conducted by police team of Akhnoor Sub-division with the help of Transport Department, said the police spokesperson.
Pertinently, the property attachment operation was conducted by a team of Police Station Akhnoor headed by SDPO Akhnoor, Mohan Sharma, assisted by SHO Akhnoor, Tariq Ahmed, under the overall supervision of SP Rural, Brijesh Sharma.
