Srinagar, Dec 12: Police on Thursday said they have attached properties of two notorious drug peddlers, allegedly acquired from illicit trafficking, under the Narco Act in Kashmir valley.

Police said in a relentless effort to curb the menace of drug peddling, Police in Pulwama on Thursday attached a single-storey residential house worth approximately Rs.20 lakhs, belonging to a notorious drug peddler identified Javaid Ahmad Ganaie a resident of Loolipora Kakapora.
“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during investigation/ inquiry conducted by the police”, police said and added, “The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in a Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic substances by the owner”.
The said drug peddler is presently lodged in Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu under PIT NDPS (Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.
The action has been taken under sections 68-E read with 68-F (1) of NDPS Act of 1985 & is linked with the case of NDPS act of PS Kakapora and Police Station Pulwama, they added.
In another similar act Police in Awantipora attached a single-storied, residential house worth approximately 25 lacs belonging to a notorious drug peddler namely Tajamul Masoodi resident of Bagander, Pampore under section 68-F of NDPS Act 1985.
“This property was identified as illegally acquired during inquiry and accrued from illicit trafficking in Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances by the said drug peddler”, police said.
The said drug peddler is also involved in many cases and is currently detained under PIT-NDPS Act and lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu. (Agencies)
